"Caxixi" Rattle
September 13, 2008
Orlando Hernandez

The Caxixi Rattle takes it’s roots from the Brazilian martial art, Capoeira, and is most often used in conjunction with a gourd instrument called the Berimbau. The base of the caxixi (pronounced “ca-shi-shi”) is a gourd shard onto which the interior “noisemakers” bounce to produce it’s unique sound. You will drill the base, and learn twining with reed to build the walls and handle. This is a great class for teachers and children. Create different sounds with beads, pebbles, dried beans, etc.

Date: Saturday, September 13, 2008 - 10am to 4pm

Fee: $75 (materials included)
